Information we collect

- Account details: email address, password (stored securely by our auth provider), and username.
- Profile and onboarding information you choose to provide, such as activity interests, availability, accessibility needs, dietary requirements, support preferences, about me text, phone number, and emergency contact details.
- Optional NDIS-related information if you choose to provide it (for example, an NDIS participant number).
- Safety and matching information you provide during onboarding or booking flows.
- Technical information such as browser type, device information, IP address, and cookies required for sign-in and security.
- Communications you send to us (for example, support emails).
Why we use your information
We use personal information to:
- Create and manage your account.
- Show activities and opportunities that may fit your interests.
- Support safe participation, including storing contact and safety details you choose to share before bookings.
- Improve and secure the platform.
- Comply with legal obligations.
- Communicate with you about your account or important service updates.
How we are allowed to use your information

Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with trusted service providers who help us run the platform, including:
- Supabase (authentication, database, and hosting infrastructure).
- Vercel (website hosting and delivery).
- Email and infrastructure providers used to send account-related messages.
- Some providers may store or process data outside Australia (for example, in the United States). Where we disclose personal information overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure recipients handle information in line with applicable privacy law, or we rely on a permitted exception under the APPs.
- We may also disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, safety, or security of users or others.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, including access controls and encrypted connections (HTTPS). No online service can guarantee absolute security.
You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for activity on your account.
How long we keep information
We keep personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide services, resolve disputes, enforce our terms, and meet legal obligations.
When information is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it.

Taking Part is designed for people participating in community activities, including with support from family, carers, or guardians where needed.
If you are under 18, you should use the platform with permission from a parent or guardian. If we learn we have collected personal information from a child without appropriate consent, we will take steps to delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will change when we do. Material changes may also be notified on the website or by email where appropriate.
Continued use of the platform after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
